Adventure Cycling Becomes a Sponsor
We are very pleased to report that the Adventure Cycling Association has joined the sponsor team. I met Jim Sayer, Adventure Cycling Executive Director, at Interbike 2008, where we talked about the trip and our objectives. Two weeks later Jim called and offered to help. We look forward to working with this wonderful organization as we plan the route. I'm working on getting more distance into my training program, moving from track training at the ADT velodrome in Los Angeles to climbing hills on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. This past weekend I rode the 45 mile course of the inaugural Gran Fondo Colnago of San Diego. It was great fun. Over 1,000 riders participated in ride, quite an accomplishment for an event's first year. Ernesto Colnago flew in from Italy for the event. He greeted each wave of riders with a cheery "Ciao" and sent them on their way. The Prostate Cancer Awareness Project was in the Expo area talking with guys about checking that pesky PSA number. Score for the day: one live saved!
